About Chesham in Bloom
The Chesham in Bloom campaign began in 2005 to improve the way that Chesham looks and how people feel about their town. With support from the town council and local organisations, people from all sections of Chesham’s community are working together to tidy and brighten up the town.

Each year, Chesham is entered into the Thames and Chilterns regional round of Britain in Bloom, where we are judged against other large towns such as Newbury, Bicester and Abingdon. For 2009, the judges will be visiting Chesham on the 16th July and visiting key locations such as the High Street, Lowndes Park, the Cemetery and Meades Water Gardens to see what Chesham has to offer. We will be organising a litter pick before the 16th July, and if you would like to take part, please contact Kathryn Graves on policy@chesham.gov.uk.

For 2008, despite a poor summer for gardening, we achieved a highly creditable Silver. We also won the award for Best Portfolio in the entire region for our colourful brochure illustrating the work of Chesham in Bloom throughout the year. However, we'd like to do even better for 2009!

Here are a few examples of what we have achieved:
- Bulb planting to provide spring colour
- Helping to establish school gardening clubs
- Working with the Environmental Group to hold “Bloomin’ Chesham” litterpicks
