Rivers on the Edge The River Chess is a chalk stream, a rare habitat that is so under threat that the World Wildlife Foundation has launched a campaign to protect them. The problems facing English chalk streams are explained in the below short film by the WWF: You can find out more about the WWF's project at their Rivers on the Edge page, which explains why we all need to help take the pressure off our local rivers. The key is saving water, and there are so many things everybody can do to help, including turning off the tap when brushing our teeth, fixing leaking taps, cutting down on shower time and using water efficient appliances. And the good news is that these can all help save money as well as water! For more information on saving water, see our Water Wasters page.
