Each mayor chooses a charity which they support during their year as mayor. For 2011-12, Cllr Derek Lacey has selected to fundraise for the Douglas McMinn Centre. The centre is in East Street, in the heart of the town, and provides day care services for older people, including wholesome meals, a hairdresser and a bath suitable for people with mild disabilities. Outings by minibus are offered. The centre also distributes hearing aids on behalf of the Audiology Department. For more information, see:

For 2010-11, Cllr Jane Bramwell chose the
Friends of the Endeavour Centre as her Mayoral Charity. Cllr Bramwell also selected two Mayoral Ambassadors for the year, William Ellis and Mary Philpott, who accompanied her on mayoral engagements as representatives of the Endeavour Centre. At the end of her term of office, Cllr Bramwell presented the Endeavour Centre with a cheque for £2282.39. During her Mayoral year, Cllr Bramwell also worked with Chesham Mosque and Churches Together for Chesham to raise funds for the flood relief effort in Pakistan.
For 2009-10, Cllr Justine Fulford chose
Shed@ThePark as her Mayoral Charity. Shed@ThePark is an inclusive theatre company in Chesham, and you can find out more about them at their website:
www.shedatthepark.co.uk. At the end of her year as Mayor, Cllr Fulford presented Shed@ThePark with a cheque for £1066. A further £371 had been previously raised through a sponsored run undertaken by her husband, Simon Fulford, Councillors and Officers in November 2009.

The Mayor for 2008-09, Cllr Alison Pirouet, raised £1638 for the
Pepper Foundation. The Foundation is a charity that funds home care for seriously ill children throughout the Chilterns area of Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire. You can find out about the Pepper Foundation at their web site:
