The Mayoral Awards celebrate those who make Chesham a special place to live. There are three categories of awards and the deadline for nominations is Monday 5th September. You can nominate by downloading a form that is quick and easy to fill in (forms are at the bottom of this page).
The People’s Award is open to people who have volunteered in the town or demonstrated outstanding citizenship. The winner will receive £150 for the project or charity of their choice. Last year’s winner was Lisa Walker, a founding member of the Big Community Take Away, online pub quiz organiser during Lockdown and regular fundraising marathon runner.
The Chiltern Chamber sponsors the Business Award, to recognise Chesham-based businesses that contribute to the town, excel in their field or have provided exceptional customer service. The award has been won by businesses both large and small. Last year’s winner was an independent plant design and maintenance business run by local man Simon Collins, who for years provided the hanging baskets and flower planters that brighten the town centre each summer.
The Volunteer Team Award has the same criteria as the People’s Award, but recognises the work of project teams and groups of volunteers. The winning team will receive £150 for their charity/project. The 2021 winners were The Big Community Takeaway, which provides hot, freshly cooked meals to people in food poverty.
Please consider making a nomination; it’s a wonderful way to say thank-you to people who go the extra mile in Chesham. If you would like more information, please contact us at the Town Hall on firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01494 583798.
