There’s a new festival coming to Chesham on the 9th October. Come on down to the Market Square between 11am and 3pm as we celebrate Chesham’s creative and stylish roots at Hats Off Chesham!
Chesham has a long history of hat-making; it was home to twenty-one straw plaiting schools in the mid-1860s, and local hatters supplied the industry with high quality, traditionally-made plaited straw for many decades. Chesham’s own Mad Hatter - Roger Crab - a real-life, Chesham-based hat maker from the 17th century, may have been the inspiration for Lewis Carol’s famous eccentric Hatter.
Hats Off Chesham is an exciting addition to the High Street which the organisers, Chesham Connect, hope will grow year on year into a festival that attracts visitors from further afield as well as being enjoyed by those close to home. See you there!
