Update 17th February
Pool is sparkling ... but we await new boilers :(
We will revise the approximate opening date as soon as we can
What began as replacing the pool liner... which is needed every few years ... then also became a job repairing the 111-year-old concrete base.
Having completed these repairs and filled our lovely new pool from the adjacent well, we've hit another snag.
Unfortunately the boilers for heating the water have failed.
We've been working with our colleagues at Chesham Town Council to resolve this as soon as possible, but it could unavoidably take a few weeks.
Update 10th February 2023
We still have some remaining pool maintenance to do, and we will be better placed to issue further information later next week.
NB. The pool will not be re-opening in the week beginning 13 February. We are awaiting some further maintenance news, after which we will have at least another week needed to complete and prepare for opening. Sorry we are unable to put a date on it at this time, but we will update you as soon as we can.
Meanwhile, the pool is filled, crystal-clear and looking good. As soon as we have the go-ahead to open, we will put out further information on the Ashbourne (membership) app, our website, newsletter, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
We are all looking forward to welcoming you back to swim in the clear water of Chesham’s 111-year-old pool.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and patience.

Pool refurbishment is progressing.
The pool liner was removed before Christmas and this has allowed us to view the concrete base of the pool which dates back to 1912. After inspecting the pool base it is clear a repair is also needed to this, before works can continue with the relining of the pool.
Chesham Town Council have been proactively pursuing contractors to carry out this work in order for the pool to reopen. Although exact timeframes are unclear, it is likely that a reopening date will be around the middle of February.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and interest.
This swimming pool has been part of Chesham for 111 years and continues to offer the residents of Chesham and its surrounding areas the opportunity to swim in the crystal clear low chlorinated water.
The health benefits associated with swimming outdoors are second to none and we sincerely look forward to welcoming you all back to continue the story of ‘Cheshams best kept secret’

Our members will be aware that a problem has evolved with the pool liner in the last couple of weeks that has led to a temporary closure.
At Monday’s [21st November] CARE committee meeting of the Town Council, funding was agreed to undertake investigative and remedial works, which are due to commence on December 5th.
If, as we hope, this is a simple liner issue, these works are likely to take approximately 3 weeks, plus our additional work to get the pool ready again, depending on weather conditions. Once the existing liner is removed, we will have a better understanding of whether there are any unforeseen additional problems that need to be addressed.
However, we will ensure that our website and social media channels are regularly updated to keep you informed of the progress with regards refilling, heating and preparing the pool for re-opening.
We would like to thank you for your continued support and patience
