Waste Collection Update

Kerbside recycling collections are due to restart this week. Please put out your recycling on your next scheduled collection day. Unfortunately, the waste teams are unable to return for containers that weren’t collected during the service suspension last week but will collect a reasonable amount of extra recycling, if it’s in a reusable container or cardboard box, on your next scheduled collection.

The weekly food waste collection is temporarily suspended. Please compost food waste like fruit and veg peelings at home if you can. Anything that can’t be composted, please dispose of in your general rubbish.

Garden Waste

Service status

The garden waste service has suspended in Chiltern from Friday 20th until further notice. This includes renewals.

Advice for residents

Garden waste materials are not hazardous if left for longer than two weeks and can be home-composted. Please store this waste until the service resumes.

Chiltern will be contacting subscribers once the service resumes to advise about contract extensions.

Due to current social distancing measures, the Household Recycling Centres in Buckinghamshire are closed. Please do not visit these sites to dispose of your garden waste.

General rubbish

Service status

The general rubbish service continues as business as usual. There are no current planned changes to collection frequencies or days.

Advice for residents

To support the crews, CDC kindly asks that residents contain all their waste within their bin(s) and use the food recycling service.

They also ask that residents are mindful where they park their cars if they are working from home. Their trucks are considerably wider than normal vehicles, so need a good amount of space and turning room to access roads and collect bins.

There are no current planned changes to collection frequencies or days.

Medical (including COVID-19 waste)

For information on how to dispose of waste from possible cases of COVID-19 and cleaning of areas where possible cases have been (such as disposable cloths and tissues), visit: COVID-19 waste

Sharps and sack collections are occurring as business as usual. Customers should request collections as usual (sharps only).

Bulky waste

Service status

New bulky waste collections are suspended. Chiltern is individually contacting residents with existing bookings to discuss their bookings.

Advice for residents

The bulky waste service is currently suspended. If you have previously booked a bulky waste collection, a member of Chiltern's team will contact you to discuss your booking.

Owing to the current situation, and closure of Household Recycling Centres to the public, we advise residents to store their bulky waste items until it is safe for disposal options to resume.

HRCs

All Household Recycling Centres across Buckinghamshire are closed until further notice - for more information see the 'Coronavirus disruptions' page.

Bin deliveries

Service status

Bin deliveries are suspended. Chiltern is contacting residents with outstanding requests individually to discuss their delivery.

Advice for residents

If you have ordered a new bin before Friday 20 March 2020, and it has not been delivered, you will soon be contacted by a member of Chiltern's team. If you do not have a bin, or your bin is broken, Chiltern will collect your general waste from single-use sacks and your recycling from a reusable container. These sacks and/or containers must be provided by the householder.

Due to current social distancing measures, the Household Recycling Centres in Buckinghamshire are closed. Please do not visit these sites to dispose of your waste.

Thank you for your patience and understanding in this difficult time. For further updates, please see Chiltern's website which is being updated daily:
