At the Chesham in Bloom AGM, awards were given out to residents, businesses and schools to celebrate their contribution to greening up the town. During an evening of celebrations, Chesham in Bloom Chairman, Mohammad Fayyaz, firstly presented the Len Vockins School Shield to Brushwood School for their fabulous school garden and the students’ impressive knowledge of environmental issues. Chartridge Combined School won the Chairman’s Cup for the best display of planted welly boots (below)!

In the Blooming Business competition, sponsored by The Chesham Society, top place was secured for the second year running by The Griffin pub on Bellingdon Road for their spectacular floral displays, including their new patio area.

The most hotly-contested category of the night was the Front Garden Competition. The standard of entries was incredibly high, despite the long, hot summer. Third place was won by Maureen East, with an exuberant, cottage-style garden. Nicolas Hall took second place for a front garden packed with interest and lots of wildlife-friendly features. This year’s winner was James Smith, with his flawless borders packed with hot-pink, sunny yellow and tropical orange flowers, providing a stunning hit of summer colour.
