About us: The Theatre Shed is an exciting, inclusive theatre company based in Chesham. We are made up of an all-encompassing cross section of the community and believe that theatre should be for everyone who would like to participate, regardless of personal circumstances or background. The Theatre Shed has worked extensively for over 10 years within the Chesham community, regularly taking part in events such as Buryfields, Chesham Carnival and Christmas in Chesham. We hold community events, such as our recent performance of Bird Pie and our 10 year anniversary show Lifted, held at the Elgiva Theatre. Another important part of our remit is to perform outreach work in local schools.
We are always keen for people to be involved with The Theatre Shed and there are many ways this can be achieved:
- Become a member for a small monthly fee and you can join us in our weekly workshops and take part in multiple performances throughout the year.
- Become a mentor - as a key part of the team, you will help and support our members during workshops. It's an invaluable volunteering experience for the over 16s.
- Volunteer - help out for a few hours each week, become a Trustee or support us during a show, either front of house or backstage.
We continue to develop and grow our bespoke Outreach Programme run in and for schools, colleges and workplaces. The programmes are tailored to suit the needs and objectives of the group and the areas of focus and development they wish to target. We also offer community link workshops for other community groups and performances at local events.
