Yes, Chesham was granted its market charter by Henry III in 1257 and is proud to be a traditional Chilterns Market Town. Salting (also known as gritting) is the responsibility of Buckinghamshire County Council. The roads in Chesham that will be salted both to prevent ice and to treat ice are listed in a prioritised schedule drawn up by the county council.
Buckinghamshire County Council no longer provides salt bins free of charge. However, they will fill up bins once they have been purchased by members of the public, or local organisations (e.g. residents’ associations).
